CFI’s Curriculum & Topic Coverage

CFI’s curriculum begins with the foundational corporate finance and Excel skills required in finance roles. You learn financial statement modeling, DCF analysis, and valuation skills before advancing into transaction modeling for M&A and LBOs. Sector-specific training in industries such as real estate and mining lets you apply these skills in realistic business contexts.

The curriculum reaches well beyond deal-focused work. CFI’s course topics span FP&A, commercial banking and credit, capital markets, AI for finance, wealth management, fintech, business intelligence, and data analysis. You can start with core modeling and valuation, then develop specialized skills for your target role in corporate finance, banking, investing, or FP&A.

Finance professionals develop and teach all of CFI’s courses. Every CFI course page identifies the instructors, who bring experience from investment banking, equity research, M&A, capital markets, consulting, FP&A, and corporate development. They design courses around the models, analyses, and tools professionals use daily, helping you apply what you learn directly on the job. This expert team launches new courses monthly and regularly updates existing courses to keep content up to date.

Wall Street Oasis Curriculum & Topic Coverage

Wall Street Oasis offers a curriculum focused on financial modeling and interview preparation, organized around career tracks for investment banking, private equity, and venture capital. This emphasis reflects the roles WSO serves, where recruiting readiness and technical skill both influence hiring success.

Beyond the core curriculum, WSO course topics include investment banking and private equity interview training, networking guidance, and practical modeling tests, all geared toward recruiting for these roles. Finance professionals with deal experience teach the courses, though the public pages do not consistently name an instructor for each one.

CFI and Wall Street Oasis curricula overlap in the core technical work, including financial modeling, valuation, and sector-specific applications such as private equity and real estate. Both can build these modeling skills, though they frame them differently. WSO applies this technical foundation toward high-finance recruiting, while CFI extends it across a broader set of finance and data career paths.

CFI Learning Format & Time Commitment

CFI training is fully online and self-paced, so you can study around work, school, or other professional commitments. You can work through courses as quickly or slowly as you want, depending on your availability and whether you’re a beginner or have prior finance experience.

Courses comprise 10 to 30-minute modules with 2- to 5-minute lessons. You can complete lessons incrementally, whether you have 5 minutes or several hours. Courses include Excel-based model building, real-world use cases, quizzes, and assessments. These activities help you apply and confirm each skill as you progress through the material.

Learning is organized around seven certification pathways, including CFI’s flagship Financial Modeling & Valuation Analyst (FMVA®) Certification. Each certification combines core courses, electives, quizzes, applied case study challenges, and a final exam, so you follow a structured path rather than assembling one yourself. You can also take optional prep courses to build foundational skills. Specializations provided an opportunity to complement certifications and learn advanced skills. For example, many FMVA graduates move on to the Investment Banking & Private Equity Modeling Specialization to learn advanced transaction accounting and modeling, including M&A and LBOs.

The time commitment for CFI’s certifications, specializations, and courses varies by individual pace and prior finance experience:

  • Certifications: 3 to 6+ months at 8 to 10 hours per week, but you can set a schedule that works for you, whether you can dedicate 1 hour or 8 hours to study every week.
  • Specializations: 2 to 4 weeks, depending on your individual pace
  • Individual courses: 1 to 8 hours, depending on the course. Courses that include model-building tend to be longer than courses that do not.

Wall Street Oasis Learning Format & Time Commitment

Wall Street Oasis offers several training formats. Standalone self-study courses let learners work independently and on demand. The Academy combines a defined multi-week schedule with individual support, while corporate training and live virtual bootcamps follow shorter, set schedules. These options accommodate learners who want on-demand technical preparation or a scheduled learning experience.

The WSO Elite Modeling Package covers Excel, financial statement modeling, DCF modeling, valuation modeling, and transaction modeling for M&A and LBOs. The program delivers these topics through modules, lessons, hands-on exercises, and real-world modeling applications, with an emphasis on the technical skills used in high-finance roles.

Time commitments vary by format:

  • Courses and certifications/bundles: six months or less
  • Corporate training: half day to 10 days
  • Academy: 10 hours per week for 12 weeks
  • Live virtual bootcamps: half day to three days

  • Full-Immersion: $847/year
  • CPE Course Access: $347/year

CFI also offers scholarships to eligible learners.

Basic costs $399 per learner per year and includes the full CFI learning library and core business tools. Professional certifications are not included in Basic plans.

Wall Street Oasis Pricing

WSO prices courses, packages, and programs separately rather than offering a single annual membership. Percentage discounts may be available through promo codes, partnerships, or special campaigns. WSO also offers a Financial Aid Program that may be available for selected training products. The Academy and mentor services are not eligible for financial aid.

Courses & Certifications/Programs

WSO’s self-study courses fall within two price ranges:

  • Financial modeling programs: $147 to $997
  • Individual courses: $97 to $497

Pricing varies by topic, course scope, whether the product is part of a bundle, and current promotional offerings.

WSO Academy Pricing

Academy tuition costs $7,000 to $10,600, depending on the payment option you choose. With a full upfront payment, tuition is $7,000 before any add-ons, such as the Job Guarantee. For an additional $4,000, this service guarantees at least one job offer through the WSO Academy program, or a full refund of your tuition.

Financing plans with 10-month and 24-month terms are also available. Total tuition increases to $8,000 for the 10-month plan, with $2,000 due upfront and $600 per month. With a 24-month plan, total tuition is $10,600, with $1,000 due upfront and $400 per month.

Bootcamps

Live virtual bootcamps cost between $197 to $997 per event. Certain bootcamps may be included in Academy tuition.

Corporate Training

WSO does not publicly list standard corporate-training prices. Costs depend on team size, selected subjects, program length, and whether delivery is live or self-paced. Companies typically receive a quote after a discovery call.

Other Services

The Talent Oasis is a separate employer recruitment service and candidate job board rather than a learning product. Employers pay $997 per listing per month to post job openings on the Talent Oasis board. Job postings and application submissions are free and publicly available. The Application Tracker feature is available only to Academy students.

CFI Accreditations and Career Outcomes

According to CFI’s alumni survey data, 75% of certified professionals secured a promotion or a new role within a year of completing their certification. This result shows how the credential may support career progress, but it does not promise an individual outcome.

Business and educational institutions recognize CFI for the quality of our customer service and learning content. CFI is accredited by the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and holds an A+ rating for business practices and customer trust standards. NASBA recognizes CFI as a registered CPE sponsor, and we offer more than 575+ verifiable CPE credits. Professionals in the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia can also earn CPD hours through eligible CFI courses, subject to the requirements of their professional body and jurisdiction.

Six CFI certification programs, including FMVA®, hold accreditation from Walbrook Institute London, formerly known as LIBF. CFI was also among the first four organizations endorsed by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) as short-term credential providers for the quality of learning content and job-ready skills training.

Wall Street Oasis Accreditations and Career Outcomes

WSO’s Academy Student Outcomes report states an 88% job placement rate as of May 2026. The figure covers Academy learners who completed at least 70% of their assignments and does not extend to people who purchase standalone courses or bundles. External reviews describe the Academy as rigorous and selective.

WSO is not listed as a registered CPE sponsor on NASBA’s National Registry or as a BBB Accredited Business. It also does not publicly advertise broad CPD alignment or formal recognition from Walbrook Institute London or HLC. These distinctions align with WSO’s emphasis on Academy-specific recruiting support.

The WSO Academy Top Job Offer Guarantee provides a conditional tuition refund to eligible Academy participants. Participants must meet the published eligibility requirements, complete the program, and perform the required post-completion job-search activities. Those who meet these conditions but do not receive a qualifying high-finance or consulting offer may receive a tuition refund.

CFI’s Employer and University Partnerships

Through CFI for Teams, we provide upskilling, reskilling, new-hire onboarding, and flexible online training for corporate finance, financial services, and professional services organizations. Finance professionals and teams at BlackRock, CIBC, ATB Financial, PwC, Goldman Sachs, Deloitte, Amazon, and other organizations use CFI to build their skills.

We also partner with universities to complement academic instruction with applied, job-ready finance training, institutional access, and progress-tracking tools. Students develop practical modeling and analysis skills alongside their coursework. For example, through our partnership with CSU Global, eligible learners can apply eligible CFI courses toward CSU’s online Bachelor of Science in Finance degree.

Wall Street Oasis Employer and University Partnerships

WSO primarily builds employer relationships through Talent Oasis. Candidates create profiles and indicate whether they are actively searching, casually looking, or open to offers. WSO uses these profiles to connect candidates with finance employers, and candidates can block their current employer to keep their search private.

For companies, Talent Oasis provides a recruiting service for sourcing finance talent. WSO describes participating organizations as “elite finance companies,” although its public pages do not name specific employer partners or provide detailed case studies.

WSO also works with university finance clubs, offering events, speakers, and other benefits. Its public materials focus on these club relationships rather than formal university partnerships or for-credit course arrangements.

CFI Reviews

CFI holds a 4.6 out of 5 rating on Trustpilot as of August 2026. Reviews commonly highlight structured learning, practical modeling skills, and greater confidence applying those skills during recruiting and on the job. CFI’s published learner reviews put specific experiences behind those themes.

Alonso Saponara Rivva, now an Investment Banking Analyst at Goldman Sachs, described the FMVA program as “incredibly valuable during the Goldman Sachs interview process.” Fawda Aouini, an Equity Research Analyst, said earning the FMVA credential “made it easier to demonstrate my skills to employers.” These individual results do not guarantee that every learner will have the same experience.

CFI publishes these testimonials, while Trustpilot provides a separate third-party perspective. We also publish team reviews from organizations that train finance teams with CFI for Teams.

Wall Street Oasis Reviews

Wall Street Oasis holds a 4.3 out of 5 rating on Trustpilot as of August 2026. Reviewers often praise WSO’s practical modeling instruction, interview preparation, and career-focused mentoring. Less favorable reviews request more independent modeling practice, additional examples, and stronger quiz functionality.

Reviews of WSO’s courses cite hands-on technical instruction as a strength. Gaurav Sahu, an MBA Finance Candidate, said he gained “technical mastery, sharper problem-solving skills, and a professional toolkit” to use throughout his career. Another reviewer, Alex, described the LBO course as “a very hands-on approach.” He found it well-paced for someone with no prior LBO experience and valuable for those planning a move into private equity.

Find the Right Fit for Your Finance Career

Both CFI and Wall Street Oasis provide practical finance training, but they support different priorities. CFI offers structured skills development across financial modeling and valuation, FP&A, commercial banking and credit, capital markets, and data. While Wall Street Oasis also offers financial modeling and valuation courses, their content focuses heavily on recruiting and interview preparation for high-finance roles such as investment banking and private equity.

WSO offers a focused option if your immediate priority is high-finance recruiting. CFI is the stronger fit if you want an accredited learning path that supports long-term growth across specialized or multiple finance functions.
