What is Subpar?

Subpar is something below the average. It can also be used to classify something that did not meet the requirements of a traditional or accepted standard. In finance, subpar can be used to reference subprime lending, which are loans made to entities that might have a problem with the repayment schedule, and usually charge an above-average interest rate.
